Terms of Service

SaphireSocial is a social platform for roleplayers. These terms keep it a place worth roleplaying in. By creating an account or using the site you agree to them.

1. Your account

  • You must be at least 16 years old to use SaphireSocial.
  • One person per account. No alt accounts. You can create multiple characters, but the account behind them belongs to a single real person.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your password to yourself.
  • Your out-of-character details (email, login identity) stay private and are never shown on in-character surfaces.

2. Roleplay and fiction

Almost everything on SaphireSocial is fiction, and that is the point. Your characters may be villains, gang members, tyrants and worse. In-character conflict, crime, dark themes and drama are all part of roleplay and are welcome within the content rules below.

The line is simple: fiction targets fiction. The moment content is aimed at a real person rather than a character, it stops being roleplay and the rules below apply to it as out-of-character conduct.

3. Content rules

These apply to everything you post: profiles, posts, comments, messages, images, listings and usernames.

  • No sexually explicit content. No pornographic images or explicit sexual writing anywhere on the platform, including direct messages.
  • Zero tolerance for content sexualising minors. This includes fictional depictions and characters presented as underage. Accounts are removed immediately and, where required, reported to authorities.
  • No bigotry. No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, religious hatred or other attacks on people for who they are. "My character is racist" does not make slurs aimed out-of-character at another player acceptable.
  • No harassment of real people. No stalking, dogpiling, threats or sustained unwanted contact out of character. Respect blocks: do not create characters or accounts to get around one.
  • No doxxing. Never post someone's real name, address, photos, or any other personal information without their consent.
  • No illegal content and no content that promotes real-world violence or real-world self-harm.
  • No impersonation of real people or of SaphireSocial staff. Parody of public figures must be clearly in-fiction.
  • No spam, scams or malware. No flooding feeds, pyramid schemes aimed at real money, phishing links or malicious files.
  • No gore or shock media. Written dark themes are part of roleplay; graphic real-world violence imagery is not.

4. The wallet

Wallet balances and currencies are fiction. They have no real-world value, cannot be bought or sold for real money. The money is entirely fake, and set by the user. Using the wallet as part of a real-money transaction is against these terms.

5. Moderation

  • Anything can be reported. Reports go to a staff queue and are handled by moderators.
  • Staff may hide content, suspend accounts or ban accounts that break these terms.
  • Direct messages are private from other users. If a character's private messages are reported, moderators may review that character's recent messages. Every such access is logged in an audit log.
  • We may remove any content or account that harms the platform or its people, even where these terms do not spell the case out.
  • We reserve the right to moderate on actions and behaviors that may not directly fit under these rules. Rules lawyering will not be tolerated.

6. Your content

You own what you create. By posting it you give SaphireSocial a non-exclusive license to host, display and distribute it as needed to run the service (for example, showing your posts to your followers and in public feeds). Deleting content ends that license except for copies held briefly in backups or as required for moderation records. Only post content you have the right to post.

7. The API and companion apps

The public API exists for companion tools such as OSC bridges and overlays. Do not use it to scrape private data, evade rate limits, automate harassment or bulk-download content. API access can be revoked for abuse.

8. The service

  • SaphireSocial is provided as-is, without warranties. We do our best to keep it up and to keep your data safe, but we cannot promise uninterrupted service or that data will never be lost.
  • We may change or discontinue features. If we ever shut the service down we will give reasonable notice where possible.

9. Leaving

You can stop using SaphireSocial at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms. Some records (moderation logs, reversed wallet entries) are kept after termination where needed for the integrity of the platform.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the platform grows. Meaningful changes will be announced on the site before they take effect, and the date at the top of this page always shows the current version. Continuing to use SaphireSocial after a change means you accept it.
