I have contemplated saying something profound after today, the culmination of the work of truly hundreds of people or so over the course of months of preparation, guerrilla warfare, stockpiling and salvaging to survive the Meatrack siege and reclaim our megabuilding. But instead, I’ll speak as Charles the man. Not Charles the leader. Charles the father, not Charles the warlord. And that is, while we have one and should take pride in what we have achieved. Know many people did not live to see today, and many more morn their loss. Look to those you shared your proverbial trenches with, and ensure their wounds both visible and impossible to see are cared for. A battle was won. The war has been not. I plead more than being a weapon, that we be good neighbors in these times. Be the shoulder others can lean on for strength, and do not be afraid to let others lend you theirs.
